The inspiring portrait of Céline, welder at Yanmar

Hello Céline, could you explain your journey at Yanmar?

I’ve been working at Yanmar for 18 months as an order picker in the production warehouse. At the end of this interim period, Yanmar gave me the opportunity to take a qualifying training course: ‘CQPM Industrial Welder’ (Joint Qualification Certificate for Metallurgy). The training centre is teaching me about the MIG-MAG, TIG and ARC welding processes. Having had a first experience in the building as a plasterer-painter, I immediately accepted this chance to be able to learn a new trade that corresponds fully with my professional goals. In fact, after an initial training and a first experience in accounting, I wanted to re-train in trades with a manual component, which suits me more.

What are your qualifications for this job?

Working in a so-called ‘male’ environment is absolutely no problem for me. I get along well with everyone, and I stand up for myself! In addition, as a woman, I think I have some very useful qualities for welding, like patience and meticulousness.

What is your goal at Yanmar?

My training is finished in a year. If I earn my diploma, it will be a key to employment at Yanmar. A great motivation – which drives me to give the best of myself every day!
